Getting Started

Tutorial example

Upload your image

Start by clicking the blue Upload Image Here button to upload an image. Chose an image to upload. Locate your file and upload it.

DISCLAIMER ⚠️: The following formats are supported: PNG, JPG, JPEG, SVG, WebP, and BMP. Note that AVIF, ICO, and HEIF/HEIC support may vary depending on your browser.

Once uploaded, the image should appear in the output container. If not, please go to Our Contact Page and contact us.

Texture Pack

If you prefer to stick with the default textures, you can skip this step.

To upload texture pack, click the green button named 'Upload Texture Pack Here'. Select and upload desired texture pack folder. The textures should display in the block display container and a successful message should notify you at the top of your screen.

If texture pack fails to upload, first verify the texture pack works in Bloxd.io and contains a folder full of block textures. If issues persist after testing in Bloxd.io and confirming your texture folder is full of texture images, then visit Our Contact Page to contact us.

If you want to reset the textures back to the default, click 'Reset Texture' button.

Tutorial example

Block Display Container

Find the Block Display Container on the right side of the page (desktop) or by scrolling down (mobile).

This container allows you to choose which blocks you want or don't want to use. Simply click on a block to cross it out. Click again on the crossed out block to add it back.

Removing Sections of Blocks

Underneath the Block Display Container, there are several checkboxes. The first four are the preset of removed blocks.

Show Illegal Blocks - selects Illegal Blocks. These blocks cannot be obtained in survival mode without glitches or cheats. For example: Bedrock is considered an Illegal Block because it cannot be obtained in survival without glitches or cheats. Iron watermelon is also on the list of Illegal Block. Although there is a way to technically obtain an Iron Watermelon, it is an extremely rare drop.

Show Non-whole Blocks - selects Non-whole Blocks. These blocks are not complete blocks.

What are complete blocks?

Complete blocks are a full SQUARE.

For example, some reference blocks are:

Show Clear Blocks - Selects Clear Blocks. These are transparent blocks that players cannot walk through. For example, glass blocks are see-through but solid.

Show Growing Blocks - Selects Growing Blocks. These blocks grow into a different block over time (Example: saplings that grow into trees). It is recommended to keep this setting OFF to prevent blocks from updating with incorrect colors or causing disruptions in the image.

Show Custom Lobby Blocks - Selects blocks that have functions in custom lobbies/games. These blocks contain functions that could break your custom lobbies/games. This can include:

Show Animated Blocks - Selects blocks that are animated, usually Lava and Portal Blocks. This does not change the block instead changes the animation frame.

Saving/Loading Preferences (Optional)

Before converting your image, its highly recommended to SAVE your preferences. Save Preferences button saves your texture pack, Block Display Container, and the Block Remove Presets.

When you click the blue 'Save Preferences' button, a popup should appear with two options:

  1. Copy Text
  2. Download Preferences

We recommend downloading your preferences because the text can be quite long.

If you want to load your preferences, click the purple 'Load Preferences' button and paste your text or upload your file. REMINDER The file should have a .btpreference extension. If the Texture or Block Display Container fails, then go to Our Contact Page and contact us.

Image Dimensions

Find the Pixel Width and Pixel Height inputs. If you have already uploaded an image, these values should automatically be filled in. If necessary, change the values to be smaller or bigger depending on your desired output size. When one field is adjusted, the other field will automatically adjust to match the image ratio. To turn off the automatic image ratio configuration, uncheck 'Auto Ratio'. Contact us on Our Contact Page if you encounter issues.

Conversion Settings

To adjust conversion types, click 'Conversion Settings' button. A popup will show with three conversion types: Normal, More Solid, and Less Blocks. Click on the desired conversion type and adjust modifications.

Normal is pixel perfect. It places each block based on the color of the corresponding image pixel. Translucent pixels are still counted as if they have full opacity.

Texture modification, which is found in every conversion type, adds more blocks to make large or small images look more accurate when viewed from a distance. It works extremely well with gradients. You can adjust the setting to determine how much texture feature affects your conversion.

More Solid ignores pixels below a certain transparency level. For example, blurry outlines can be removed by increasing Alpha Threshold.

Less Blocks reduces the number of unique blocks. This is useful when you want to get only a few unique blocks. There are three modifications: Frequency Threshold, Color Threshold, and Texture.

Once ready, click 'Confirm' and you will see the 'Convert' button changing to the color of your conversion type.

Converting

When you click the 'Convert' button, ONE of three possibilities may occur.

  1. If the image is too large, the converter will require multiple schematic. To prevent pasting multiple schematics, click 'Lower Pixel Quality Auto' which automatically reduces the size. If you want to manually change it, click 'Lower Pixel Quality Manually'. Then you can manually adjust pixel width and height. Once you are satisfied with the multiple schematics, click 'Continue.'
  2. If the program asks to Select Conversion Type, follow instruction under Conversion Settings to learn about the options.
  3. If you see the process bar, the image should be converting. A loading screen will show that your image is being converted.

There are two stages in the conversion process: 1) Process the image 2) Display the blocks

Output Container

The converted image will be displayed in the Output Container. Using mouse scroll to zoom in/out. To move the image, click and drag it. On mobile, pinch with two fingers to zoom in/out. Tap and drag to move the image.

Block Count Conatiner

The block count container lists all the blocks needed to build your image. On desktop, this is usually located to the left of the Output Container while on mobile, it is located below. Each unique block in the list includes the block's image, name, and count. The block count not only gives you the total number of blocks needed but also breaks this down into stacks and extras, eliminating the need for manual math.

Downloading the Output

To download the image, click the green download button next to the image converter. This should pop up a window with two options: 'Download as an Image' and 'Download as a Schematic'.

If you want the download as an image, click the 'Download as an Image' button. If the file window with download option does not show up, first make sure you have successfully converted the image, or contact us onOur Contact Page

If you want to download image as schematic, there are a few required fields:

  1. Name the schematic: this will name the file and the schematic internally in the file.
  2. Choose the side that the image faces (North, South, East, West, Top, Bottom). When you paste the schematic in the game, it will appear in the direction you are facing. This is determined by how your movement affects the coordinates:
    • Walk North → X increases
    • Walk South → X decreases
    • Walk West → Z increases
    • Walk East → Z decreases
    • Look upward → Top
    • Look downward → Bottom

For Top and Bottom, you must fill in a Direction. You only need to indicate if you were looking up or down

Schematics

If you've completed the steps under Downloading the Output, then click 'Download as a Schematic.' If the schematic is too big, it will split into multiple schematics. This will download as a .zip file, with each schematic containing an offset for proper placement.

Go to Bloxd.io and join a world where you want to paste the schematic. This feature only works if you are the lobby owner or builder in Bloxd.io. Next, type in the chat: "//schematic load". A pop-up should appear to upload your schematic. Drag and drop the file or click in the drag and drop area to upload. The chat should state: Loaded schematic (your schematic name) to clipboard. Then, type in the chat "//paste" at your desired location, and the image will appear. If you have multiple schematics, paste each one at the same Y level, adjusting the X/Z position based on the side you chose. If the schematic doesn't load, then contact us on Our Contact Page
